In researching the history of Greek isopsephy or isopsephia (gematria) - the alphanumeric quality of a language - we are pointed to Pythagoras, the Pythagoreans, and Plato. There is an ancient Greek motto: "God is ever a geometer" (ἀεὶ ὁ Θεὸς ὁ μέγας γεωμετρεῖ), whereas, counting the letters of the words (3,1,4,1,5,9) reveals the first six digits of pi (3.14159). This confirms that 'Step 1' of Greek gematria was/is simply counting the number of letters in a word/name and that 'Step 2' is the alphanumeric sum of a word/name.

Hi Brad,

Interesting, I've seen videos on "Pi" and "Phi" in the bible, I will look for them.

PostSubject: ΟΡΦΕΥΣ (Orpheus) = 1275 in Greek isopsephy as does Jesus Christ    Greek Isopsephy (Isopsephia) / Gematria Empty10/26/2012, 23:02

"William Stirling" drops a hint like a ripe plum on page 153 of The Canon when he likens the Greek Orpheus to Jesus Christ:
" . . . the name ΟΡΦΕΥΣ has the value of 1275 . . . in the earliest efforts of Christian Art, it is not uncommon to find Christos depicted playing upon a lyre in the fashion of Orpheus. No reason is known for this singular impersonation, but the number 1275, deduced from the name Orpheus, suggests the reason why the two gods had a similar identity."

The number 1275 in no way suggests any reason why Christos should have a similar identity to Orpheus - at least not until we count the name 'Jesus Christ' by Agrippa's code. If we do, we find the letter values of his name sum as: 600 + 5 + 90 + 200 + 90 + 3 + 8 + 80 + 9 + 90 + 100 = 1275. It is quite clear that "Stirling" is alluding to Agrippa's code, and it is equally clear from the veiled nature of his reference that it must constitute an initiation secret of high degree Freemasonry.

The above comes from Peter Bull's website that has been up for several years. If anyone knows Greek and its isopsephy (gematria), please confirm that Jesus Christ & Orpheus both equal 1275.

JESUS = IHΣOYΣ = 888 = (74x12) = I(10) + H(8) + Σ(200) + O(70) + Y(400) + Σ(200)

CHRIST = XPIΣTOΣ = 1480 = (74x20) = X(600) + P(100) + I(10) + Σ(200) + T(300) O(70) + Σ(200)

The Bible states that Noah's Ark & the Courtyard of the Ark of the Covenant was "fifty cubits" which equals 74 feet (888 inches) if one cubit is 17.76 inches (7/4/1776). Many of the US Founding Fathers were Freemasons and encoded July 4, 1776.

In Simple(6,74) English(7,74) Gematria(8,74), GOD=7_4, Jesus=74=J10+E5+S19+U21+S19, cubits=74=C3+U21+B2+I9+T20+S19.

Christ=77=C3+H8+R18+I9+S19+T20
Fathers=77=F6+A1+T20+H8+E5+R18+S19

IHΣOYΣ (888) is translated to Iesous=88=I9+E5+S19+O15+U21+S19
