Hi Everyone,

1Corinthians 12:4-11 refers to the gifts of the spirit. Although all the gifts of the spirit
may be discussed on this thread, I want to focus on the gift of: "discerning of spirits"
Does anyone know what discerning of spirits, in the context of 1Cor 12:10, means?

I think that means that you call tell what others peoples gifts are  and/or if they are genuine.

Hebrews 5:14 “But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.”

I agree with Amanda regarding discerning what gifts others have. Also, I believe it is simply discerning what kind of spirit a person is. This could occur in many ways from knowing if a person is being disingenuous or discerning their true motives in various situations. In essence I think it is like when a person can discern if a string on an instrument is in tune or true.

Solid food as in many strong meat as of ONE we have many versions of the bible. Paul said there is only One Spirit that discerns there are many spirits try the spirits and see if they are of God.i agree with Amanda and Paradigm but not with NIV VERSION.
