I was raised Catholic, studied my way out of Catholicism, and was a minister in the Church of Christ for forty years, till I studied my way out of that.

What do you have in mind?

Hi Paladin how are you?

This was on my mind a week ago, now its something else. 😄
Now my focus is on getting back to where I was and that was helping Muslims know Jesus. I dont think its so much what we know but what we do with what we know, correct teaching/belief helps though, example with what I want to do, knowing the difference in the Father and the Son makes it easier.

Maybe Ed would like to look into it? I was interested in first discovering which books can be trusted from way back, and what the Earliest Christians believed - how they lived - what they did - how they thought etc.

Philip Schaff is the best Historian [18th century] for church history. He takes us all the way back to the facts surrounding the earliest heretical isues, developement of trinity doctrine, and studies of personalities that clashed right from the beginning.

There were several early authors to whom we can turn for guidance; James, Paul, Mathew, Luke, etc.

I am writing a book that will explain how the church got into the mess it is in today, with several thousands of denominational splits and splinter groups. It also explains the scriptural perspective that will bring it back to God.

Then of course there are encouraging writers like yourself and others on the internet who are still seeking and sharing truth beyond, and sometimes contrary to, the heresies called "orthodoxy."

Hi Paladin,

Can you re-post this, in an Introduce Yourself thread?

Hi Paladin,

I'm in "recovery mode" from forums at the moment. They took so much out of me.

The worst I found was people who - behind the scenes - and in public - tried to harm other believers.

I still have my belief, its good. It's just Internet Forums (even this one) where I freeze up.

Thanks for the information.

Out of curiousity, do you follow the Books of Paul or not?

It was Peter who spoke of Paul's writings and called them "scripture" - "Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction."

Yes, I follow Paul's writings. Is there a question about something Paul wrote, that I may be able to help you with?

Hi Karmarie,

All 66 books of the bible are considered "canon".
Canon means the measuring rod of truth.
All 66 biblical books can be trusted.

When reading books that are not canon, you must be led by the spirit.

God bless

Hi Ed.

Ok.

So, why is christianity so confused with Doctrine? Why do people all believe different things and debate it so much?

Hi Karmarie -

When the Holy Spirit inspired the new testament authors, he began with James as the first lesson, followed by Paul's Galatians, with Thessalonians third, and Mathew 4th, Corinthians fifth and so on till John's gospel last.

When Satan evaluated his position as loser in his war on heaven, he decided to take a hand in the affairs of men in a more personal way. He appealed to the mind of men, and stroked his ego. He convinced the early church fathers that their own opinion was of more value than the Holy Spirit's chronology of writings, so men changed the order in which the written messages were to be studied. They brought Mathew to the front, because it was in Mathew that Peter is assigned to be the leader of men (Pope) in eccliastical matters, (head of the church) while scripture calls Christ the "head of the church."

Men brought the lat book written, to the front of the book as the fourth gospel, so that "the beginning" could be corrupted to mean the beginning of creation, while John used it to reference the beginning of the gospel.

By changing the order in which the books are read, everything changes, because now men teach themselves the meaning of words in the wrong order, and corrupt the logos of God. Satan remains ecstatic, men's ego's continue to be stroked, and denominations continue to be developed as doctrines continue to evolve.

That is the basis of all the errors in Christianity today.

Karmarie............You are very good at handling disputes in a very loving way i have noticed that for quite awhile now, Some times we (including Me ) take personal offense epically if a person is belittling me or Laughing at me like i am stupid or something, I can take some of that to a point, Then i strike back when i should more often just walk away, That is especially hard to do with personalities like Mike and Pierre on the "other site", i am trying to overcome that , I tend to be kinda like Istari was at times. If i have offended you or anyone here i do apologize . You would be a good monitor . IMO

peace and love to you and yours............................................................................gene
